In what only can be described as a MNL Mini-Miracle on Ice, the Nordique’s stunned the highly favored Americans last night in the marquee game of the week. Stellar goaltending was on display by both keepers and a late Dique goal thrusted the game to OT and subsequently shootout.
“Both teams were fired up for the tilt” Americans GM @smachi commented post game. The mood was set even before warm ups. The Americans exited their locker room as a TEAM while the awaiting Nords milled around on the ice.

The Americans were sans prolific sniper @pauly and the concern for the Diques was the unknown sub they would be facing. “We thought they were gonna sub Poopy Brown Pants again and kill us” said @dcunningham8 .

Both teams came out ready for battle. Back and forth action was the theme during the first period. Each team had chances before one got by G Jimmy Howard. The A1 line comprised of @davep flanked by @pbin12 and @gorlandi have gelled to form a dynamic offensive force but could not find the twine.

The second period featured a spectacular individual effort by @davep cutting across the goal mouth and tucking it past flailing tendie @trains_get_robbed . “I willed meself ta score da goal” said toothless wonder @davep which sparked the Nordique bench and tied the contest.

In the third lanky forward @hefe6210 blew by the defense and lifted the biscuit into the far corner of the net for a 2-1 Americans advantage. Skillman said “i wanted to shove it in that little pricks face after I scored” pertaining to a post goal celly tongue lashing from Bin. “I was really frustrated out there tonight. My stickhandling was like chopping steak”. In the dying seconds of the game netminder Jimmy Howard was lifted for an extra attacker. The puck found it’s way to the waiting stick of @pantydropper on the blue line. Panty unleashed a wicked clapper from the point which was re-directed into the net by @pbin12. Bin recounted the shot by stating “I was just protecting Hetes from being injured by Panty’s blast. I figured if that puck hit him at that velocity he would have ended up as bad as @chad_paulinski (God rest his soul).” The crowd erupted and the team surrounded Panty in celebration. This late tally with 54 tics on the clock set the ground work for the highlight of the evening… OT.

Both teams agreed that the only way to settle the game was to only play the grinders. @ericlepoudre @pantydropper @hal @dslackerone and @allanz lumbered through OT without settling the outcome. Shoot out would be the final act. Jimmy Howards and his standup goalie technique thwarted the first attempt by the Americans. Bin could not finish on his attempt even though the gaping 5 hole Hetes provided looked inviting. Again Jimmy closed the door on his second attempt. This left the game in the capable hands of GQ Coverboy @gorlandi. Gio deftly beat Hetes to solidify the comeback. Gio declared “next to my kid being born, this is the greatest night in the history of my life! Im already getting prepared for next week!”
