Troy Otto’s Slack account @ottotroy29 was abruptly taken offline Monday evening. A MNL representative said a fill-in referee deactivated the account.

The account, which Otto has used since 2016 mostly to send out the infamous Otto Power Rankings and give unsolicited GMing advice, was restored after 11 minutes.
After a huge amount of reaction to the deactivation on social media, Otto himself addressed it in an early morning message on Tuesday.

The Ivory Tower did not respond to a MNLHN request for comment. MNL initially said an employee “inadvertently” deactivated the account. An investigation later revealed that a substitute ref had actually taken down the account “on their last day.”
The suspension of Otto’s account suggests MNL employees have access to the league’s most prominent accounts. A former senior employee told MNLHN via text, “It’s one click if you have the rights to access the tool, lol”. How the substitute official gained access is still under investigation.
The source noted that MNL was aware that its admin permissions could be abused but did not change its protocol. “There was discussion that for high profile accounts, there’d be special protections (i.e. “2 keys”) but it was never implemented,” the person said.
