We have already covered the 8th Round in a previous post so let’s recount those picks. 50 Panty. 51 Weaver. 52 Brennan. 53 Shephard. 54 Cipps. 55 Neville and 56 Drago. The next selections may be lower in the rankings but they are all 1st Rounder’s in Dickie’s book!
57. Americans: David Vinande – Sand dune racing enthusiast who is entering his fourth year in the league. Spends his summers training in Machu Picchu were he scales large mountains to improve his cardio. Holds the school record at Western Michigan University for most ounces of tequila consumed out of a strippers belly button. He will fit in nicely on Team America.
58. Tigers: Ryan Allen – This man is all business. Doesn’t take shifts off to coast. Figure Ryan to be the anchor of a strong second line. Collin Neville and Jeff Skillman had him ear marked two rounds earlier and find themselves lucky to still have Ryan on the board. Published contributor to MNL Magazine.
59. Ducks: Brian Bustamante – Probobly the player with the most nicknames in MNL history. Bustanaut, Busta, Juanito Pablo Escobar Big Pappi Boostamante, Brion Monstruo de Galletas. Very generous with his treats. Wife makes the best cookies in the world. Has the unique combination of scoring prowess like Proctor and the skating ability of a lawn jockey. MNL fan favorite!
60. North Stars: Tyrone Otto – Back to back runner up finishes for the Dickie Award for Best Otto. Ty’s play has improved over the history of the league. Look for that trend to continue. MNL has gotten younger, faster and deeper so his level of play needs to follow that arc. I don’t have a bad thing to say about Ty. He will always give his team everything he has.
61. Seals: Todd Otto – Director of Operations for the North Stars. Has been busily working the phones in order to tweak the roster. Looking to machinate a deal that would acquire value picks and dump cap space at the same time. “It’s funny how the Otto mind works” said a perplexed Hal Doherty. Look for Whoop to make another blockbuster trade before July 15.
62. Whalers: Scott Wilkie – Veteran presence on the blue line. Doesn’t possess speed or silky mitts but is starting to read the play better. Needs to have more confidence. Looking to net his first ever senior league goal this season. “The good Lord blessed me with the ability to mold young children in the classroom… not hockey ability” commented Wilkie.
63. Nordiques: Hal Doherty – Last season he was the early season favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. In September 2018, while he was putting in goals by the wheelbarrow, he was invited as an un-drafted free agent to the Florida Panthers training camp. Scouts at the camp took one look at his old skates from 1978 and cut him. After his return to MNL he cooled off like liquid hydrogen. Still finished top 20 in scoring.
