Dickie Dunn’s Way Too Early Mock Draft 1.0

With the recent MNL Draft Lottery in the books the entire hockey world is in anticipation to see who their teams will select. The league has expanded to 7 teams and grown by eleven new players. There are many unknowns going into the draft but if the North Stars don’t trade their #1 pick this is how I see the draft go. Without any further adieu, here is the way too early first round picks for the 2019/20 MNL Draft.

  1. Americans- Paulie Proctor: How can he not be the #1 overall pick? All he does is lead his club to glory and championships. His reign of consensus top pick cannot be overturned by the presence of a MNL rookie. Known and proven commodity. Scores in bunches, great locker room guy, outstanding SLACK game and senior hockey folklore legend. His jersey already hangs in the rafters of Viking Arena. Women love him, kids look up to him and fellow MNL’ers want to be him.
  2. Tigers- Matt Taylor: Sight unseen, the best player in the draft. According to Troy Otto he can score at will and he’s fast. Turned down an offer in the KHL with SKA Saint Petersburg to play in a more competitive league like the MNLHL. He’s an unknown commodity who could pay huge dividends to GM Jeff Skillman. Tigers can’t go wrong with the second pick. It’s either Matt Taylor or 22. It’s like saying do you want Kate Upton or Miranda Kerr… I don’t care they’re both hot!
  3. Quakers- Pistol Pete Niphoratos: The former Ducks have a history with Pistol and he fits right in with the style of play GM Busta wants to implement. “Pass to Pete and he skates it all the way down and scores” is the philosophy said Turtle Tim D’Onofrio. Pistol had a career year last season and shows no signs of slowing down. Committed to a strenuous off season wrist muscle building routine… he will only be more unstoppable. Reached for comment “I’m so glad I’m not a North Star”.
  4. North Stars- Shawn Shuga Hardy: Could easily have been selected already considering his goal scoring prowess and dogged determination. Look for Sugar to have a chip on his shoulder and prove the other GM’s wrong by passing him over. The flying Otto Brothers will need a puck moving defenseman to compliment this pick and hit Hardy with long stretch passes. Tye Otto was jovial with his selection. “I always wanted a cool brother and that what I got with Sugar!”
  5. Seals- Shaun Eisenmenger: Total package. He can carry a team throughout the season and step up to elite level in the playoffs. Great vision and scoring ability. Also is not afraid to dig in the corners or out-muscle people to win a battle. Look for ShaunE to finish top 3 in scoring for the year. GM Whoop Otto was ecstatic with the selection “Next to the General, Serda, Chad, Soukas, Starr and Troy he will be the best player ever to wear the green and white!”
  6. Whalers- Jack Serda: No brainer here. He’s not only the GM but he’s also the best player still available. He’s the foundation of the Whaler dynasty. He’s a role model on and off the ice. Handsome and dashing philanthropist who spends his spare time tending to the less fortunate like DaveP and Charles Machi. The guy is a living, breathing hero.
  7. Nordiques- Andy Femmenino: GM Panty Dropper knows Andy well by playing with him on the K-Falcs. He will be asked to do a lot for the baby blue to retain the Stanley Keg next season. Andy’s stock has risen during the Spring campaign and GM Jeremy “Cowboy” Coan hopes he stays hot. “He may not be a sexy pick but neither is Panty and were stuck with him already”.
