ESPN The Ocho Releases Mock Draft

Byline: Bristol, CT

One of the most exciting days on the Detroit Lions football schedule is the day after they are eliminated from the playoff race. Fans of the Lions immediately look towards the next draft. The Seals and Americans are experiencing the same feelings today. As a result, ESPN’s Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have handicapped the field of available players in the 2019/20 draft. Here are the projections for the first round…
1. Americans select #22: Consummate number one consensus overall pick. The face of any franchise. “Any team who drafts Proctor immediately becomes the team to beat” Kiper stated.
2. Seals select Pistol Pete: His play this year has elevated him to the second overall pick. Provides goals in bunches and tenacity. Superior fitness and dogged determination. McShay compares his play to Mark Messier but without the leadership skills.
3. North Stars select Shawn Sugar Hardy: Down one spot from previous drafts, still possesses the skills to lead a team all by himself. Top notch speed and youthful exuberance. He is a natural goal scorer and puts up huge numbers.
4. Whalers select their own GM Captain Jack Serda: “A case could be made that he is the best player in the league” says McShay. Billed as the MNL version of Niklas Lidstrom. He is the perfect human being. Talented, handsome, physically gifted, a natural leader of men and all around great guy.
5. Mighty Ducks select ShaunE: Led his Seals within an inch of the second round. Provides top flight scoring without having to be flashy. Consistently puts up points and most of the time is the best player on the ice. Strong on his skates and a nose for the net.
6. Nordiques poach the Whalers and select Trent Young: Those tricky ‘Diques are draft day magicians. Not only do they draft the top defenseman in the league, but they rape the Whalers of their GM just like they swindled the Americans. The first twist of the draft!

Round 2 to follow…
