Ducks Show Might; Flags at Half Mast for Americans

The Ducks on Monday night at Hazel Park Ice Arena decimated the diminutive denizens who once declared independence from Great Britain. In a strong showing, the Ducks put up three on the Americans, one of which in the first shift, to win 3-0, taking the best-of-one playoff series in the 2019 MNL Playoffs. Proving why they were favored in this series, the Ducks dominated the scoreboard with big plays from “Pistol” Pete Niphoratos and GM Brian “Ghost Busta” Bustamante. John “JFlo” Floreno demonstrated his ability to become a brick wall and earned his second shutout of the season, the first of the playoffs. Americans forward Chad Paulinski had a chance to put the puck in an open net in the opening minute, but missed wide. Relentlessly the Ducks attacked the game all night, scoring a goal in all three periods.

Mercifully the tough season ended for the bottom-dwelling Americans. Exiting the playoffs in the first round was not what the defending champions envisioned.

“Zero is just not the number we were looking for” said Paulinski. “Goals are always at a premium, and we couldn’t find a way to get one”.

From his drive home busy thinking of an acrostic instead of ways to be better at hockey, this is third-round pick and trade asset Chae Shin-Chang, signing off.
