In a shocking turn of events Monday evening the Americans suffered their first regulation loss of the year against a patchwork Whalers. Coming into the game, the red white and blue have coasted through the halfway mark of the campaign with a sizzling 9-0-0-1 record. Draft Kings heavily favored the Amerks -210 in pregame odds as the Whalers had to splice a team together with subs. Both Whaler GM’s were out with illnesses, Sikorski with bronchitis and Goosey Loosey with a fungal infection of his groin. They would also be without Paul 22 Proctor as he was on hiatus in an undisclosed tropical location, and a late bail by lead rat Dave P. The odds were definitely stacked against the green and blue who were left in the charge of wily veteran Bin Biliti. “I asked Bin to put some lines together and gave him creative licensure as to how to get the train back on the tracks” said Dr. Sikorski from his hospital bed. Spending hours in thought, Bin needed to shake things up in order to spur on some scoring. “The plan was to move Wrubs up to forward and pair him with JFlo and sub Simmer, reuniting the KFalcs line”. It wasn’t a secret as to what the plan was as it was shared with the Americans during pre game shots of Fireball, also known as pre game warm ups, in the scorers box. The Whalers plan paid almost immediate dividends as they went up 3-0 after the first stanza. Simmer sniped the first, then Wruble netted his first of two, and Zach Hartkop put in the third of the period off a faceoff. “They came out and bitch slapped us in the face” said rugged power forward Trent Young. “We didn’t expect that”. The mighty Americans overlooked and underestimated the struggling Whalers, assuming they could just throw their sticks out on the ice and cruise to another victory. “I warned my boys of this being a ‘trap game’ all week with my lengthy soliloquys” said GM Tyrone Otto “but no one listens to me… it’s basically like when Troy talks at the Thanksgiving table and we all just ignore him”. The Americans would fight back closing the distance to 4-2 but the win was secured by a beautiful top titties backhand by Hartkop over the glove of sub Ryan Z. For his effort, Hartkop received the prestigious Rat Mode Player of the Game Award.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families and let us all give thanks for this fantastic league and friendships we have….. yes Woodsie, we consider you our friend too.
