Nordiques “Dragoviched” In Loss

Byline: Viking Arena Under Repair

For the first time this MNL season the Tigers have emerged victorious! In no coincidence, this also happened to be the first time the Tigers have marched out their full team. The squad had failed to gel to this point with a patchwork team full of capable but not invested subs. “I thought it was very important to get all the boys out tonight” said GM Ryan Allen. A new found sense of family permeated the locker room during the pre-game. Goaltender Andrew Spicy Goalie Hetes eagerly arrived at the rink at 6:30pm for the tilt but forgot to get dressed for the game until 2:59 into the warm up delaying the game for several minutes. When asked for comment he acquiesced “I lost track of time during deep meditation of visualizing goals getting by Coaner”.

Management threw the Nordiques a change up by mixing the lineup. Power forward Hock was moved to the wing which allowed Bin to drop back to D and try and push the puck forward from the rear. The key move of the night was the play of newly minted Hat Trick Club member Andrija Dragovic who repeatedly put himself into prime scoring places and was awarded with three Gino’s. The first came midway through the second stanza when Bin abandoned his defensive responsibilities and gathered a lose puck behind the baby blue cage. He swept around the net and found an open Drago for a bang-bang tally. The second came from a long cross ice pass which escaped the budding superstar but caught up to it and tucked it behind the sprawling goaltender and trickled across the line. His milestone goal was a result of a brilliant cross mouth pass by Jeff Skilly Skillman for a Drago one-timer. “Next to my kids being born…this is the greatest day in the history of my life” proclaimed a jubilant Drago.

All members of the Tigers contributed to the win. “We had the Proctor rules in effect most of the night” said steady defenseman Ryan Maffesoli. Partners Shepard and Bull played smart, solid hockey. Andy Femm was flying around all night and Kimmel was so relaxed out there he consulted Zeke Rawlins for craft beer recommendations. The number one star of the evening was an obvious selection of Drago by scorekeeper Uncle Pfister but right behind him was the play of Hetes. Spicy made his MNL season debut in the win thwarting away any good scoring chances and gobbling up rebounds before guys like JFlo, Allan Z or sub up Trent could get to them. Seeing the energy that Hetes brought to the team had Bin in tears after the game. Similar to former San Francisco 49er Terrell Owens crying about his quarterback Tony Romo (you young guys need to YouTube it), Bin held an impromptu “press conference” while lifting weights on the Labbatt Blue Party Deck. Bin said “That’s my team mate… That’s my goalie!” Winning is so much better than losing.
