Dickie’s Way Too Early Mock Draft 1.0 8th Round

Round Number 8 features a cast of characters. Three of the seven spots are occupied by current or former GM’s. It has been said by many a great thinkers that “the later you are drafted in the MNL, the better team you will be on”…
Pick #50. Nordiques: Jeremy “Panty Dropper” Drager- Face of the franchise and league ambassador. Used his masterful mind last season to fleece the North Stars of the number #2 overall pick, securing both the top spot and the second choice of Sugar. Can he and Coan pull off another dandy of a trade? Defense has improved over the last few seasons and he has filed a patent with the US Patent Office to copyright the “Panty Copter Move”.
#51. Whalers: Jim Weaver- Many were surprised to see Weaver fall this far in the draft. Streaky player can be super hot or frosty cold. Paired with two offensive studs Weaver could make an impact. Won coach of the year in the Pee Wee League for the Troy Capitals. GM Trent was overheard saying that the Whalers only drafted him so they can hold him under contract until his boys are old enough to play in MNL. Then the Whalers will have their rights too.
#52. Golden Seals: Joe Brennan- Colorful Canadien (like that spelling Brennan?) with a penchant for breaking valuable sticks over his own net. Feisty and competitive on the ice. Definitely the most penalized player in the league who is from North of the border. Fan favourite!!! In most years his jersey is the #1 purchased sweater in MNL merchandising.
#53. North Stars: Shephard- Solid defenseman who can hold his own out there. He could be a key cog from September to Christmas while bender OT is in effect. Most nights you may not notice him out there but that’s not a bad thing.
#54. Ducks: Dave Cipparone- The lovable Ducks had to draft the lovable Cipps. It only makes sense and all seems right in the universe. Cipps’ captivating personality and skewed view on life provides the Ducks locker room with relaxation and serenity. If he continues his superstition of not wearing a jersey or elbow pads for warm-ups, he will have another good year.
#55. Tigers: Colin Neville- Slated as the Tigers 8th round draft choice shortly after the announcement of the expansion franchise. “It looks like were putting together a solid club so far” said Neville. The Tigers look to follow the same play book that the 2018 Vegas Golden Nights did and reach the MNL finals in their inaugral season.
#56. Americans: Drago- Drago, Manny, Proctor and Antioch all lifted the beloved Stanley Keg together two years ago. The GM’s believe that infusing these players together again will sow natural chemistry and another championship. Drago fits in nicely as a high end late draft pick. Great value at this point.
The Goalie Mock Draft will be announced after the 10th Rounders are revealed.
