Following up from last weeks post of the first round mock draft, here comes the way too early second round. Here is a recap of the first round… 1. Proctor 2. Matt Taylor 3. Pistol 4. Sugar 5. ShaunE 6. Serda 7. Andy Femmenino
- Nordiques – Chris Taylor: Having selecting Proctor over the the other Taylor, GM Cowboy Coan overruled Dr. Dropper and said “we can’t pass up on two Taylors”. Chris Taylor can score in bunches but can go dormant at times also. When he’s hot he has the ability to spend many weeks in the exclusive Hat Trick Lounge rubbing shoulders with the likes of Pistol Pete, Hal Doherty and Charles Machi.
- Whalers – Trent Young: Already penciled in as the second round selection for the Whale. The automatic pairing of GM’s Serda/Trent is the best combination in the league on an annual basis. Even if Trent wasn’t a GM he would have been selected by now. Has the size of a Charra, the grace of Orr, the wingspan of pterodactyl and the beard of a male model. There is nothing this guy can’t do. Always a finalist for the Erik Karlsson Dman of the Year Dickie Award. VapeD said… “Whens eye growd up eye wants to bee Trent!”
- Seals – Darren Cunningham: GM Whoop Otto selects a familiar face in DCunn. Played with the Seals last year and knows the system. “He’s the kind of guy we like for our organization. He quietly leads this Club and isn’t obnoxious or a prima donna like some of the other so called super stars”. A north-south player with a penchant of putting the puck in the net. He speaks softly and carries an old school wooden stick.
- North Stars – Dave Judge: Relative unknown but according to MNL Central Scouting, otherwise known as Troy Otto, he is a proven top flight player. “I think Troy is trying to bambozzle the rest of the league by bringing studs in that only he knows…” said Spring League GM and proud canadian Doug E Fresh. Could Judge be the next Proctor or the next Dave Cipps… unknown.
- Quakers – John Starr: The former Ducklings solidify their defensive core by selecting the best beer league Dman in the Northern hemisphere. Finished the 2018/19 season a +76 and had a WAR of +850. The Oatmeal Men believe that defense wins championships and with a solid goaltender they plan to win games 1-0. Starr can move the puck up the ice and will make tape to tape silky passes to a streaking Pistol.
- Tigers – Bin Biliti: Versatile player but falling in average draft position amongst the experts. “He gets slower every week” said goaltender extraordinaire Cam Clawser “but he’s still useful in the right system”. Plagued by the Chad Paulinski Curse, Bin has finished dead last in each of his prior MNL seasons winning a combined two games between the months of January and April.
- Americans – Paul Antioch: reunited with Proctor, Antioch should have a career year. He is a natural scorer but needs to hit the net more often. “If he can put pucks on target and force the goalie to make some saves he’s gonna be top 5 in goal scoring” said a complimentary Ryan Allen. Antioch is the cornerstone of the red white and blue who look to rebound from a disappointing 20108/19 year.
