ESPN released the first round picks yesterday. The biggest surprises where Pistol going second overall and the back door deal the Nordiques pulled off to acquire @youngtr7. @pantydropper commented on the shocking pick, “not only did we get the best Dman in the league but we also made the Whalers worse”. Here are the projections that Mel Kiper and Todd McShay have compiled for the second round of the 2019/20 MNL draft.
- Nordiques select Bin: “we have a familiarity with Bin because he is a former Dique” said GM @jcoan . Good vision on the ice but needs scorers around him to be best effective.
- Ducks select @ctaylor14 : Versitile player who can play offense or defense. Joined the Hat Trick Lounge this year during a four goal performance. Can play up tempo or bang it out in the corners. Super value at this point in the draft.
- Whalers select @gorlandi : Break out year for the Italian Stallion propels Gio into the early second round. His confidence level is at an all time high and has become an elite scoring machine. Took major steps this year after defecting from Series A European Hockey League. Best bi-lingual player in MNL.
- North Stars select @dcunningham8 : Last year he was a first rounder. “We looked at this pick and took the best player still on the board. We were surprised he fell to us and happy to have him” said @ottotroy29 . Provides speed and strength up the middle. North Stars management is considering a ban on composite sticks for all of it’s roster.
- Seals rise and select @Peso : Ended the regular season top four in points. Was this a product of playing with @pauly and @hardyparty92 ? The Seals hope he and Pistol have chemistry and turn it into wins. “High” value pick!
- Americans select @antio1pd : No brainer here with this pick. If you look at it on paper the Amerks have the best tandem in the league. Antioch and Proctor combined for 35 goals and 20 assists in the regular season. “The Americans also hold the next pick in the serpentine draft and can add another huge piece like the General in the third round” McShay noted.
