Jump on the Dique Bandwagon

Byline: House of Shamrock Celebration After Party

For the first time in nine weeks I can say “Diques Win, Dique’s Win!!”. The gladiators draped in light blue dispatched the Americans last night in shootout, ending a skid that rivaled the 2016/17 season. “They were one loss away from re-writing the record book for most consecutive loses” said league historian @Fulton Reed . The win was long overdue and proves that heart overcomes talent.

GM @pantydropper said “i am real proud of the boys. That trade is finally paying dividends”. The win marks the first victory for @mbooker and @Peso since Halloween. “I was so excited to win that I sparked up a victory joint right in the locker room” a subdued Peso said. Peso netted the third goal of the game on an individual effort while displaying his silky mitts. VapeD added his thoughts… “We’s final lee got ta hear sum Kesha. I mist back to back games do to mental issue. I mental cuz we lose two much”.

Playing on the top line @hal netted his second goal of the year. Hal recounted his effort, “watching my son and studying hours of film i learned to go to those dirty places on the ice”. Hal banged in a rebound for the second goal of the game and for his effort he was named the Nordique Hot Player of the Game helmet. “Except for a one minute span in the second period where @pauly #22 scored two goals, i thought we outplayed them” said @jcoan . Proctor finished the game with a tour de chapeau getting him within one of @hardyparty92 Sugar for the Rocket Richard Award.

Regulation time could not decide the match. Both teams had scoring chances in the extra frame but solid goaltending forced a shootout. As the home team, Dique management decided to shoot first and put pressure on the highly favored Americans. Bin sprang from the bench and collected the puck at center ice. Referee @chad_paulinski positioned himself on the goal line. The Nordique Booster Club in the stands rose to their feet in anticipation. @ericlepoudre looked through his fogged up glasses. The stage was set and a win was within reach. Bin coasted in on the tendie, went backhand-forehand-backhand and out waited him to deposit the puck in the net. All that separated the Nords from victory was a stop by the sixteenth sub goalie to wear the red igloo logo this year.

Scouts in the stands and hockey fans all over Hazel Park expected #22 to emerge and take the shootout breakaway. But, GM Proctor did not call his own number and had grinder and emerging super star Sam Sniper Machi attempt to tie the game. Machi crossed the blue line with the grace of Nancy Kerrigan and ripped a mighty wrist shot towards the cage. Alas, the goaltender made a spectacular save to seal the win for Baby Blue.

“It was a real sign of class and leadership by our fearless leader 22” said Dirtiest Player in the League nominee Jeff Skillman @hefe6210 . @antio1pd Antioch echoed those words commenting “thats why Pauly is a world class Senior League player and up for the Man of the Year Award”.

The skid for the Diques is over and the pressure is off their heavy shoulders. The team bond has strengthened and their will to win was displayed on this magical evening. The Nordiques look ahead towards the Losers Bracket Championship. “We want to get our hands on the toilet bowl trophy and prove that the men of the North are truly winners” said Silent Assassin @ericlepoudre. The only thing missing this night was having goalie @CLAWZ Cam and @gorlandi there to celebrate the win. Cam was designated for assignment to rehab his psyche and Gio was on assignment over seas in Italy trying to form a rival senior league named Serie A Birra.

Celebrating at the HOS,

Dickie Dunn
