North Stars Revert to Old Management Style in Shootout Loss

The season continues to remain interesting, as the Whalers’ 3-2 shootout win on Monday has kept them in the race for third place. Troy Otto and his North Stars looked to control pace for the first period, with the Whalers only managing to land 3 shots on goal. The Whalers did not seem concerned with generating scoring chances. In fact, late in the first period, North Stars All Star snub Brandt Williams attempted to goad Whalers All Star snubber Chad Paulinski into taking the puck away from him.

“COME ON CHAD!! COME AT ME! BRING IT!” – Brandt “What a Nice Guy” Williams

Chad refused, and instead did his best Leonardo DiCaprio impression until the horn echoed across the ice to end the period.

Chad’s heart will go on

The second period started with a goal by Serda to bring the North Stars up 1-0. The Whalers, however, finally managed to figure out how to hit the net, and halfway through the period Chad “Sub-Up Incarnate” Paulinski was able to net one courtesy of Wolfe. Someone scored on the Stars (I don’t have the stat sheet) Stars up 2-1. Troy Otto was getting increasingly frustrated at his team, though, and could be seen yelling at his brother Tye for one of the egregious errors he made throughout the game. Bookies immediately started shifting odds in favor of the Whalers after seeing the meltdown. In a moment of serendipity, Trent was able to score from Brennan and Wolfe with the extra attacker. The horn sending the game to overtime could barely be heard over Otto’s furious rage. A costly penalty by Kimmel in OT left the Stars with a man advantage for nearly the entire OT period, but, alas, they could not capitalize. Trent managed to score the winner in the shootout, giving the Whalers a 3-2 victory and 2 points in the standings.

I wonder what got Tye Otto all fired up for his reffing gig on Monday?

Can the North Stars bounce back against the Ducks next week? Lol, what do you think?
