Nordiques Management and F Hal Doherty signed a contract extension late Sunday night, securing him to the Diques for the upcoming 2017-18 MNL Season. Doherty was drafted by the Nordiques 71st Overall during the 2017 MNL Expansion Draft. Rumors have the contract being huge, with an expected AAV of $5.5 million for the veteran forward. Another rumored stipulation was the performance bonus attached to it. Once Doherty’s Games Played reaches greater than 0, the AAV of the contract plummets to $0.
“I was confused by the size of the contract at first, but I decided to just Take the Money and Run, Steve Miller style!” said Doherty. “The team-provided travel agent scheduled some family vacations to leverage my new contract, all on Mondays.” Doherty had a great game on Monday, with a stat line of 0G, 0A, 0+/-, and 0:00 TOI.
Nordiques GM Jeremy Drager declined MNLHN’s inquiry for a comment. MNLHN declined North Stars GM Troy Otto’s offer for comment, though he provided it anyways, numerous times over.
